Milan blog: How I prepare a city trip
Hi everyone, I decided to do a series about my city trip to Milan. This blog is the first out of three blogs. Today I’ll tell you how I prepare a city trip! So let’s get into it.
Our city trip
We booked a city trip with Voyage Privé to Milan. We are going for four days, and we are staying in the Antares Hotel Accademia. Voyage Privé is a Belgian website that offers luxury travelling with a discount. The discount is only available for a couple hours or days. The hotel we are staying in is a four-star hotel, and we only paid 200 euros each (aeroplane tickets included!). We are also flying with Ryan Air From Brussels to Malpensa airport.
How I plan my city trip.
A week before we leave I start planning the city trip. First I search for bloggers who went to the same city. I look at what they did and what their recommendations are. A blog I always go to is Petite Passport. I write everything down what the bloggers did, and afterwards, I take a closer look at those activities.
Secondly, I ask friends who have been there what they did. Unfortunately, my friends aren’t the kind of people who like to explore and visit places. They just shop and go to bars and just walk around (most of the time).
Something I do as well is buying a travel guide. This may be old-fashioned, but it’s very handy. I always search for trendy and new travel guides. For Milan, I bought the travel guide: Time to momo Milan. It is a Dutch travel guide that provides six routes in Milan. Each route has some shopping, culture and food & drinks places. When you finished all six routes, you have seen Milan.
Last but not least, I use google maps. First I search the hotel and just zoom in to see what’s nearby. Afterwards, I search for other things that I wrote down from the bloggers or friends, and I zoom in as well to see what’s nearby of those places. By doing this, you sometimes find unique and fun places. For example, I found out that there’s a shopping centre only 5 minutes away from our hotel!
Transport
After searching for activities, I do some research about the public transport. I always look at the cost and if there is a card to use the public transport during our entire visit. For Milan, I found the ‘Milanocard’ with which you can use all public transport for 72 hours for 19 euro. It’s always good to know how you will go from one place to another because, in my opinion, it freaks me out not knowing about the transport ways in a city that I will visit.
I hope you enjoyed today’s blog! Follow me on Instagram or Twitter to see more about my Milan city trip! Bye guys and have a lovely day!
