22 things I learned at 22
So this blog is something different, it’s 22 things I learned at 22. This blog was really eye-opening for me and also quite personal. So thank you if you give it a read.
Before starting, I want to say that I got the idea from a blogger/YouTuber I really admire. Some people even say that we are kind of the same, same fashion taste, same behaviour, same enthusiasm, … So I got this idea from Aspyn Ovard. She did it when she turned 22 so if you would like to know what she learned at 22 you can give it a read.
- The first thing I learned is that I really love Ice Coffee
- I love pets more than ever, losing my cat made me realise that I love pets even more than I thought. I miss her so much, but at the same time, I’m more grateful than ever to have my other cat still.
- This one took a while to realise: I love pink, glitters, gold and rose gold and it’s okay. And the funny part is: when people used to say ‘you always get pink stuff’ or ‘you always choose glitters’, I always denied it. But now I’ve realised it’s actually true. Girly all the way!
- You are really blessed if you’re still great friends with your childhood friends. Even if you don’t see them very often. You know It will all be like the good old days when you see them. I’m taking this moment to thank Suzy and Katrien for being those friends for me. If you read this: I love you girls.
- Don’t let people get to you. Let them say what they want to say, but don’t let it get to you. They don’t deserve it.
- You deserve to treat yourself with clothes or tech-stuff or semething else.
- Don’t focus too hard on your weight or your body and don’t try and change your body because others say you gained weight. Instead of doing everything to change it, do more to appreciate yourself and your body. Eat that pizza, drink that drink, do what makes you happy not what others want you to do. At the age of 22, I really can say that having a nice body isn’t everything?-! I lost 23kg a couple of years back, and I felt worse than ever before. Now I gained some weight back, and I’m happier than ever.
- I love playing the sims
- Travelling is so important to me, it really makes me a different person and gives me a really satisfied feeling. It’s my number one reason to work and to save money.
- Family is important, try and spend a lot of time with them.
- Cut negative people out of your life: friends, colleagues, other people in your life and even family. If they don’t appreciate you or don’t make you happy, don’t waste any more time and energy by giving them chances or by being nice.
- My life quote became: do no harm but take no shit. Which means to me that you may stand up for yourself, you can give your opinion, you can do you just the way you want to but just don’t take shit from other people, as I said earlier: don’t let them get to you.
- I don’t have enough clothes, but I don’t have enough money for new clothes eighter.
- I fell in love with doing my makeup and started taking more care of myself
- It’s okay to say no!
- You don’t need many friends or even: you don’t need many people to like you. Having a small friend group or even one friend is okay. You guys, I have only one best friend Michaela, she is the one person I wish I could see every day. Next, to Michaela, I just have like 5 other really good friends. I don’t get to see them very often but I know they will always be there for me when I need them.
- McDonald’s is always a good idea.
- I love and appreciate my dad more than ever. He is the one and only person who stood next to me holding my hand my entire life, he is the only one I can say to thank you for always being there for me, for always having my back, for always supporting the choices I made in life, for always taking care for me, for always making sure I had everything I needed, … I can’t thank him enough. The older I get, the more I appreciate him.
- The next this is that I love cooking, baking, buying cookbooks and making recipes out of it. I just don’t make enough time for it and should start doing this more often.
- I am a helpful person, I will always try to help and do my best for others but don’t see me as a people pleaser because I’M NOT! It’s okay to be selfish sometimes and to take care of yourself before taking care of others. I have had many years of people taking advantage of me, people pulling me in million directions, coming to me when they need help or had a fight with someone and the second they didn’t need me anymore I became invisible for them. Those years were so hard and I hated myself for being like that. Until I decided that I’m not, that’s not who I am. I will help you but I’m not a people pleaser, I do what I want even though it’s a little selfish but I love it!
- I love staying in more than going out. Honestly, I have never loved going to party’s, I have never had the need to drink alcohol and being wasted just because I’ve seen what that does to people when I was younger. Even though I tried going out and have fun, I just didn’t like it. I thought I was weird but now I can say: I’m not. I just love staying in, watching series, playing games, eat snacks, … However: I do love a good dinner in a restaurant, sitting outside on the terrace, eating and drinking with friends or family or going to the movies.
- Christmas and birthdays are the best days in the year.
